There are various scenarios in which traffic congestion may come to a sudden slow or stop. While in many cases, drivers may have ample time to react to the shift in traffic patterns, those who fail to do so run the risk of causing a potentially devastating collision. Reports indicate that a recent car accident that took place under similar circumstances in Maryland has left two individuals with severe injuries and claimed the life of another.

Authorities say they received reports of the crash at around 3 p.m. on a recent Wednesday. Reports indicate the accident took place shortly after traffic congestion began to build at a traffic light. For reasons unknown, the driver of a car apparently failed to slow down for the sudden change in traffic. His car collided with a second vehicle shortly thereafter, prompting a chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles in total.

Reports indicate that the driver and a passenger in the car both suffered critical injuries, and although both were airlifted to a hospital, the driver reportedly passed away after arrival. One of the occupants of another vehicle involved was also rushed to a hospital for treatment of severe injuries. Although an investigation into the incident has been initiated, no further information was given as to why the driver of the car might have failed to react to traffic congestion.

Being involved in a car accident can be a devastating process and those who suffer serious harm in the process may experience a variety of challenges in life. While individuals in Maryland who suffer harm under similar scenarios may wish to exercise their rights to seek restitution, navigating the civil justice system can be an intimidating process. Fortunately, there are attorneys who can evaluate the incident and work with a person in preparing a strategy to protect his or her interests by seeking the full amount of compensation entitled through a personal injury claim.
