Drivers who are preparing to navigate a left turn across oncoming lanes of traffic have a duty to take steps to ensure there is sufficient time and space to safely navigate the maneuver. Failing to yield to oncoming vehicles can be dangerous under any scenario and the outcome of collisions involving such issues can be disastrous in nature. A recent car accident in which a driver failed to yield for an oncoming motorcycle has reportedly claimed the life of an 18-year-old man in Maryland.

Fatal motorcycle crash

According to reports, the incident took place at around 8:45 p.m. on a recent Sunday. Authorities say the crash occurred when the driver of an eastbound truck was attempting to make a left turn across oncoming lanes of traffic. Initial investigations indicate the truck proceeded to travel into the path of a westbound motorcycle and the bike crashed into the truck shortly thereafter.

Reports indicate that the motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. While he was transported to a medical facility for care, he passed away after arriving at the hospital. Authorities have advised that the investigation into the crash remains underway and they say that failure to yield appears to have been a contributing factor.

Suffering loss

There might be few things in life as harrowing as losing a loved one in a car accident, especially if the incident stems from the negligent actions of another party. Following such a loss, surviving loved ones who have questions about their available legal avenues could consider speaking with an attorney for advice on the next steps to take. An attorney can help a client understand all his or her available options and assist in preparing to pursue the full amount of compensation entitled via a wrongful death claim.
