It might not always be easy to tell the types of hazards one might encounter while out on the open road. Even those who take a defensive approach to driving may struggle to react should another vehicle veer across the median and appear directly in front of them. A recent car accident that occurred when a driver veered into oncoming lanes of traffic claimed the life of a 27-year-old man in Maryland.

Recent collision

Reports indicate that authorities were called out to the scene of a two-vehicle crash just after 3 a.m. on a recent Sunday. The incident began when for reasons that remain unclear, the driver of a southbound car suddenly lost control and veered across the median. The car proceeded to cross into the path of an oncoming vehicle and the two vehicles collided soon thereafter.

Reports indicate that the driver and a passenger in the car both suffered severe injuries in the incident. Authorities have advised that the driver of the second vehicle died at the scene. No further information was provided as to why the driver of the car might have lost control and crossed into oncoming lanes and authorities indicate that the investigation into the accident remains ongoing.

Fatal accidents

There may be few things in life as harrowing as experiencing the sudden loss of someone close in a fatal car accident, especially if the incident stems from the actions of another party. Individuals in Maryland who face similar hardships in life may have questions about their available options for legal recourse and they could choose to consult with an attorney for advice on the next steps to take. While there might be nothing that can change what took place, a successful legal claim could help provide much-needed restitution during a challenging stage of life.
