The idea of having to pull off the road after a vehicle breaks down can be stressful and harrowing under any circumstance. Such a circumstance might not always be avoidable and may leave a person stranded near active lanes of traffic. Should a nearby driver fail to maintain proper lane control, the results could prove dire. One person was killed during a recent car accident in Maryland after another driver veered out of the lanes of traffic and collided with her and her vehicle.

Accident reports

Law enforcement agents reportedly responded to the scene of the crash at around 1 p.m. on a recent Thursday. They say the incident began after a woman was forced to pull off the side of a road due to a flat tire. She was reportedly standing next to her car when another driver suddenly veered out of the lanes of traffic and proceeded to hit her and her car.

Authorities have advised that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. They also say that the driver who caused the incident showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody. The man is now facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including driving while impaired and vehicular manslaughter.

Losing someone close in a car accident involving an impaired driver can be a difficult thing to accept. Following the crash, the surviving loved ones of the victim could choose to speak with an attorney for guidance on their available options for legal recourse and the next steps to take to seek accountability through the civil justice system. An attorney can help a client in Maryland better understand what to expect from the process and assist in preparing to seek the restitution deserved through a wrongful death claim.
