Once a collision occurs, those nearby may feel inclined to approach the scene and check on the safety and well-being of everyone involved. While this may be a noble decision, it could also prove somewhat hazardous at times, and the results could prove catastrophic should other drivers nearby fail to spot the scene of a crash upon approaching the scene. A recent car accident that prompted a chain reaction of events has claimed the life of one person and left several others with injuries in Maryland.

Chain reaction crash

Reports indicate that the chain reaction crash took place at around 3 a.m. on a recent Sunday. Initial investigations indicate that it began when the driver of a vehicle suddenly rear-ended a nearby car. Authorities say that a nearby driver pulled over to check on those involved in the initial crash. Reports indicate that the driver of a third vehicle proceeded to crash into the first vehicle before hitting and injuring the pedestrian.

According to authorities, the chain reaction crash involved up to five vehicles in total. As many as six individuals were transported to medical facilities for treatment following the crash, one of whom reportedly passed on soon after arrival. It remains unclear as to what might have led to the initial incident or why several other drivers failed to spot the upcoming hazard in time to steer clear of harm’s way.

Decisions of others

A chain reaction car accident could occur at any given moment and incidents involving similar scenarios may carry dire ramifications. Individuals in Maryland who suffer serious harm or lose a loved one in such an incident may be left with questions about their available legal options, but navigating the civil justice system can be a complex process. Fortunately, there are attorneys who can evaluate the incident and assist a client in preparing to seek the full amount of compensation entitled through the appropriate channels.
