There are a multitude of scenarios in which a driver might lose control of a motor vehicle and veer off the road. Whether due to a moment of inattention or bout with fatigue, the fallout thereof could place everyone nearby in harm’s way. One person was killed and two others suffered injuries during a recent car accident that took place after a vehicle veered off the road in Maryland.

The crash

Reports indicate that authorities responded to the scene of the crash just before 12:30 a.m. on a recent Sunday. According to initial investigations, the incident took place when for reasons unknown, the driver of an eastbound vehicle suddenly lost control and veered off the road. The vehicle proceeded to crash into a nearby tree before continuing and colliding with a second vehicle.

Authorities have advised that a passenger in the first vehicle suffered fatal harm and died at the scene. A second passenger was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Reports indicate that the driver who caused the crash was also injured in the process. While the crash remains under investigation, no further details were provided as to what might have caused the driver of the first car to lose control and veer off the road.

Aftermath of a crash

The aftermath of a car accident can take a devastating toll on the lives of those involved, or the lives of family members who lose someone close in the process. Individuals in Maryland who suffer harm or loss in a crash involving a negligent driver could choose to consult with an attorney for guidance on all their available legal avenues. An attorney can evaluate the situation a client is facing and assist him or her in preparing to seek the compensation deserved through the appropriate channels.
