Car accident with secondary impact kills 1, injures 4

| Feb 10, 2021 | Personal Injury

When a crash takes place, the drivers involved may feel it best to move to a safe location prior to exchanging information and assessing damages to vehicles. This may still place those involved in close proximity to nearby traffic, and should other drivers fail to use caution while approaching the scene, the results could be disastrous. A recent car accident in which a driver lost control of a vehicle and veered into the scene of a recent crash site has reportedly injured several individuals and claimed the life of a 36-year-old man in Maryland.

The accident

The incident reportedly began when several vehicles became involved in a minor collision on a recent Tuesday morning. While the owner of one of the vehicles involved was inspecting the damage to his vehicle, a nearby driver suddenly lost control and collided with one of the vehicles. Reports indicate that the impact forced this vehicle to hit the man and pin him against another vehicle.

Authorities say that the man died at the scene soon thereafter. Although reports indicate that several others suffered injuries, it is unclear whether these injuries occurred during the initial or secondary incident. Authorities also assert that weather conditions may have played a role in the crash. Adverse weather conditions could increase the risks of such incidents, especially if drivers fail to adjust behavior accordingly.

When collisions occur

Those who suffer harm or experience loss in a car accident may find the outcome of the situation difficult to accept, especially if it comes as the result of another party’s actions. Following such an incident, those who wish to explore all their available legal avenues but remain uncertain where to begin could benefit from consulting with an attorney for advice on the next steps to take. An attorney can work with a client in Maryland in addressing the available options and in preparing to seek the restitution deserved through the appropriate channels.
